Meet Peris Kinyanjui

Peris Kinyanjui is a mother, CrossFit enthusiast, and Verto’s Sales Manager. Verto is a global financial technology firm that designs easier and efficient ways to facilitate cross-border payments for businesses of all sizes.
Previously in the banking industry, Peris has a passion for the payment field, particularly the intersection of technology and finance, & the evolution of digital payments.
How did she get here? Ahead of our upcoming event – Lunch & Learn on Wednesday 26th March – we sat down with Ikigai member, Peris Kinyanjui, to learn more about her career journey and motivation.
Where it began
Peris credits her passion and curiosity for the payments field to one interaction. 5 years ago, Peris was meeting a team of developers building the first iteration of the digital wallet. Her takeaway from this meeting? Very intriguing. It sparked her interest in digital payment systems.
Since that meeting, Peris has enhanced her knowledge on digital payments and has worked across multiple digital financial services platforms such as Hubpay, Brij Technologies and Payfasta. She is looking forward to getting better acquainted with USDC/T – a type of cryptocurrency backed by traditional financial systems.
Peris’ motivation
In a short span, Peris has achieved a lot. We asked Peris where she draws her motivation, she attributes it to mission and passion.
‘I look at the mission. What is the overall goal, whether professional or personal, and how will I be impactful in achieving the goal? Once this is clear, the passion comes from exploring and understanding how things work, especially when it comes to the way technology is shaping our world.’
What’s next?
On the work front, Peris has been working on an exciting project that she hopes will launch later in the year or early 2026.
When thinking about the impact she would like to make, Peris wants to continue to mentor young entrepreneurs in the payment sector. She is currently mentoring two gentlemen working on setting up a remittance company. Thus far, it has been a great and rewarding journey, and she looks forward to continuing her support for young entrepreneurs eager to hone their skills in fundraising, strategy development, system creation, team management, and more.
What do you like about your experience as an Ikigai member?
Peris enjoys being an active member of the vibrant Ikigai community, especially the monthly networking opportunities organized by the team at Ikigai.
“The friendly people around Ikigai have helped me connect with businesses that may have [taken] endless cold calls to access them. Now, I just meet them at the coffee stations!”
How do you unwind and find balance?
“I like working out, specifically CrossFit. That helps me take care of myself as I balance motherhood and work.”
