Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst programme is one of the UK’s biggest energy-access grant funding initiatives created to accelerate innovations needed to end energy poverty.
Organizations with projects aimed at improving access to clean and affordable energy in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, or Indo-Pacific regions are invited to apply for the latest round of funding – Energy Catalyst Round 9 – by 10th August 2022.
About the Energy Catalyst Round 9:
The aim of this programme is to accelerate the innovations needed to create new or improved clean energy access, and in doing so, create a just and inclusive energy transition that will extend the benefits of clean energy for all to meet sustainable development goals (SDGs) #7 – “end energy poverty’ and SDG #13 ‘climate action’.
What you can gain from this programme:
Through this programme, Innovate UK together with the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will make investments of up to £20 million in innovation funding available to successful participants.
In addition, this programme will also support innovators with financial and advisory support, help to create strategic partnerships, channel knowledge and insights, and develop business models to commercialize the solutions that will improve lives.
Eligibility:
Applicants are eligible from anywhere in the world.
To be in scope for Energy Catalyst round 9, your project must:
- Address the energy trilemma of: clean energy, affordable energy, and accessible energy considering the role of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)
- Help deliver clean energy access in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, or the Indo-Pacific
- Include a UK-registered administrative lead. If you are an international organization, partner with a UK administrative lead
- Involve at least one micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) from anywhere in the world
- Start by 1st April 2023
